When you’re looking to start working as a courier driver or food delivery driver, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct insurance cover in place first. The specific cover you need to have in place for delivery work is called Hire & Reward (H&R) insurance.
H&R cover protects you for additional activities that Social, Domestic & Pleasure (SD&P) insurance does not include. But we know that the first question on everyone's mind when they want to start food delivery or need insurance for courier work is about how much they will be spending.
In this post, we’ll look at the different options you have available to help you work out how much your delivery insurance will cost.
What delivery insurance options do Zego offer?
We offer a range of delivery insurance options, so whether you work full-time or for just a couple of hours per week, we have a policy for you.
Our 30-day and annual policies are designed for drivers who regularly work more than 30 hours a week. For delivery drivers working fewer than 20 hours a week, our pay-as-you-go insurance could be a good option.
With our pay-as-you-go delivery insurance, you only pay for the hours you work. And it's easy to get started, too. Simply download the Zego Delivery app, get a quote, set up your account, then start working with one of our partnered work providers.
What affects the price of my insurance?
Different people will pay different amounts for their insurance. The reason that insurance costs vary is due to something called the underwriting process. This is where an insurance company looks at all the details you have provided, such as your age, the vehicle you have and where you live, and calculates a price for the cost of your cover.
If you have been referred to Zego by a friend, there is no guarantee that you will pay the same amount for your delivery insurance as they do.
