Installation & Registration
Installing telematics is a condition of your Zego policy and not doing so may result in your policy being cancelled. To qualify for premium rebates an average Coverage rate of 80% must be maintained throughout the policy lifecyle.
Zego uses telematics data to power risk management which enables the lowest possible premium to be offered. The data from telematics devices provides a view of driving behaviour and allows us to offer the best tools to make your fleet safer, more economical and cleaner, reducing overall fleet costs.

Devices must be installed and registered within 30 days of each vehicle cover start date.
After 30 days any vehicles not installed and registered will negatively impact the Average Coverage % resulting in rebates not being awarded. (Average Coverage of 80% is required throughout the policy lifecycle.

Locate the battery of the vehicle and access the battery terminals, remove the cover if present. Fasten the black wire to the negative/ground terminal and red wire to the positive terminal. Connect the unit to the cables and decide on a mounting position near the vehicle battery. Clean and dry the mounting area, peel off the sticky tape and mount the device in the desired location. Use the cable ties included in the pack to tidy away excess wire.

Privacy
To make the best use of our risk management and offer you the best possible premium, we use telematics. The data from telematics provides insight into driving behaviour and enables us to offer you the best tools to help you make your fleet safer, more economical and cleaner. This allows you to manage your fleet risk proactively and reduce your overall fleet costs.
Zego adheres to all privacy laws and may only use ABAX data for insurance purposes (premium calculation and risk management). The following information is recorded for this purpose: driving behaviour (accelerating, cornering, braking), GPS location and mileage. It is important to know that the person whose data is collected is always the rightful owner of this data. Zego is therefore only the processor of the collected data and may not use this data for other purposes and share it with third parties.

If you insure a fleet through Zego, you are obliged to inform your drivers about ABAX's Terms and Conditions, as outlined in the policy terms and conditions.
No. Our fleet insurance requires the ABAX telematics devices to signal at all times. This is to your advantage.
Signal issued 24/7 means that your fleet score is as accurate as possible and you can make optimal use of risk management.
If no signal is given, you know that the device is faulty or that an accident may have occurred. This will enable you to take action as soon as possible.

Device Health Status
The health status represents an Abax device's ability to share data (mileage and behavioural) with Zego. It is important to monitor, and action fixes on any degraded or unhealthy devices to avoid paying higher premiums or miss out on rebates during the policy or at renewal.
- A Healthy device status means the device is working and able to record and share data within the last 24 hours
- A Degraded device status means no data has been recorded or shared for at least 2-10 days
- An Unhealthy device status means Zego has not received data from that device in the last 11+ days
A device may become unhealthy for the following reasons:
- The device has been Incorrectly installed (Installation Guide)
- The vehicle has been turned off for a long period of time
- The vehicle is stored underground or somewhere without GPS signal
- The device is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Check the device installation
- Check the device LED is flashing
- All cables are intact and the connections are secure
- The fuse is intact (located on the red cable, try removing for 1 minute)- For the ABAX6S device The device has a clear view of the sky and is not obstructed under metal (ideal installation locations windshield/scuttle panel)
- For the FMT100 / FMM230 devices The device has a stronger GPS antenna and signal strength should not be affected by installation location)
- Check if the vehicle is located somewhere with no or poor GPS signal (underground car park/container etc.)
- Can the vehicle be moved? (Should come online within 10 mins).
- Zego portal next to each vehicle.
- Weekly status report sent via email.
- ABAX portal - check GPS and Power signals (Admin > Units).
Cost
Basic ABAX packages are funded by Zego and therefore free for policy holders. The basic pacage provides Zego with data required for risk management mileage, this does not include upgraded features ABAX offers such as live location tracking.
It is (and always will be) our mission to make fleets safer, more economical and cleaner. We therefore believe that it is important to support fleets as well as possible in this process. Are you willing to share data about driving behavior with us? Then we will ensure that this is and remains free.
Other questions
To make optimal use of our risk management, we require data to be collected via the telematics devices of our partner ABAX. We are happy to help you make a plan of action to build it in. If you already use telematics devices, you can use the ABAX telematics devices in addition to your current telematics devices.
If you no longer want to insure a vehicle, you must remove the ABAX device from the vehicle. Do you want to use the device for another vehicle? Why yes! Make sure you go through the installation and registration process again. Do you no longer want to use the device? Please return these to ABAX as they are loaned and not doing so will incur a cost per device.
No, the ABAX devices battery draw is minimal and therefore near impossible to have any impact on the vehicle’s battery.
Watch the video here to see how to reset your ABAX device.
